Metro Publisher v2.2 Release Notes: June 7th, 2011

Dear Metro Publisher Community,

2.2_icon.jpgHello! Summer is here and with it the newest release of Metro Publisher. We are writing to let you know that Metro Publisher Release v2.2 will be installed on Tuesday, June 7th, 2011.  As usual you are not required to do anything, but please read this completely so that you will be aware of the enhancements you can expect to see with your Metro Publisher service.

Here is a list of top features:

Manual List Sprocket is Greatly Enhanced

Previously this Swiss-army like sprocket enabled you to select any kind of content to assemble it into a list. But this was always a manual affair.

We've changed that. Renamed simply to the List sprocket you can of course still select content manually but we now provide you an incredible amount of choices to automate what appears in this sprocket.

You can use tags to for example display the most recent two postings from a particular author, or show the three most recent postings from a particular section or content type. The possibilities are endless and best of all this means less work for your staff as the content displayed will update automatically.

Automated Newsletters (Beta Release)

newsletter_layover.jpgWe surveyed publishers and found they were spending anywhere from four to twenty hours to produce a single newsletter. That's way too much we thought! So, we are happy to introduce a Metro Publisher's new built-in newsletter production system.

Key benefits: if you keep your website up-to-date and you configure your newsletters based on automatic settings you can publish one more newsletters with virtually no extra effort.  We are taking something that normally takes hours and are enabling you to do publish up-to-date and great newsletters in minutes or completely automatically!

(Can you tell we have been thinking a lot about how to help you do more in less time? :-)

This Newsletter system is more than just a feature it's so we need your help to give us feedback and find any bugs we have missed. We spent several months on this system and several weeks testing but with a system this powerful we want to be clear that this is a beta release. If you find anything or have suggestions how we can improve it please let us know via the community and support site.

NOTE: Metro Publisher helps you produce newsletters it does not do delivery or reporting on those campaigns. That's handled by an Email Service Provider. ESP's play a very important role because they ensure timely delivery (no matter if your newsletter has a thousand or 100,000's of thousands of subscribers) and also work hard to ensure that your email isn't mis-identified as spam. We are partnering with Contactology so if you want to use this new system sign up for an account with them.

Since this is a beta. We recommend you sign up for one of their free accounts and begin testing. Their rates are very reasonable when you are ready to load in your subscriber lists and they provide guides how to migrate from other systems. They are really helpful people please feel free to contact them if you have any questions about Contactology.
